Local Support For Studying In UK

Bandar Seri Begawan - Most school leavers are busy identifying appropriate university programmes for their further studies. Choosing the right tertiary programme can be a daunting experience, especially since applications for universities in the United Kingdom begin one year ahead and gaining entry into some the programmes can be extremely competitive.

HRD Services, which has been operating in the country for a number of years to assist students, find an appropriate place in the UK and Australia, works closely with some of the most prestigious universities in the UK, to match the students' career aspirations with the most appropriate study programme.

"Our portfolio of universities that we represent is vast and includes universities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our client universities offer most of the programmes of interest among Bruneian students," said HRD Services director Hjh Rafiah Hj Mom in, in a press release.

She added that "as the local representative of the newly formed British Universities Brunei Association, we are current with the recent developments in the UK education system and new programmes being introduced. We also ensure that we provide students with firsthand information as we visit our client universities at least every two years; and we obtain a university briefing when a university staff member visits Brunei".

BUBA held its second annual general meeting in London, UK in October, which was attended by a representative from HRD Services.

BUBA, which is chaired by Dean of International at U WIC John Phillip, comprises universities that have had strong ties with Brunei and are committed to receiving students from Brunei.

"Some of the universities that we represent are very selective; the right grades are not enough. We guide the students through their personal statements, master's applications, and PhD proposal. We understand thoroughly the factors that the universities are looking for and we try to ensure that the students are going to `fit' into the universities," Hjh Rafiah added.
