Fortunate
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Women's organisation HawaNDP recently offered
assistance to the less fortunate throughout the country amid the Hari
Raya festivities.
The members scoured the four
districts in search of poor people living in dilapidated houses and
dire living conditions.
The project, dubbed Jejak Ehsan, took
the women to a house in Kg Agis-Agis Lumut where they visited an
underprivileged family, and later handed them Raya clothes and food.
Their next stop was a family in
Kampong Bukit Sulang Lamunin who, according to the head of the
household, said they - including a few small children - lived on a
day-today basis.
"We do not earn enough to save for
our future," he said.
The group then headed to the Brunei-Muara
District, where they visited a man, aged 100, living in a dilapidated
hut.
In the same village, the group also
visited a woman with four small children, living in a ramshackle hut
with no electricity supply.
Meanwhile, the women also donated
clothes and food to recent fire victims in Temburong District and
Kampong Badas Seria. -- Courtesy of Borneo
