So reads the latest e-mail scam to
hit the country.
The offer goes on to request
recipients to fill in verification forms to claim their prizes in
China, amounting to US$500,000 in cash. The message states that this
money is from a total cash prize of US$2,650,000 shared among
international winners in the second category. The scam tries to sound
legit by stating that participants were selected through a computer
ballot system drawn from 2,500,000 e-mail addresses of individuals and
companies from all parts of the world as part of their electronic
business promotions programme.
It adds that the lucky winning number
falls within their China booklet representative office in Asia and as
such the US$500,000 would be released by any of the payment offices in
Asia as soon as possible.
This scam was started by someone
claiming to be the foreign services manager of Transglobe Finance
Securities in China, with a bogus e-mail attached to the message.
The public is urged not to fall for
this scam by sending any of their personal particulars to the e-mail
