By Zai

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration also marks a new beginning for some 138 fresh recruits from the 132nd intake of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

Col. (U) Jofri Hj Abdullah, Director of Directorate of Operation at the Ministry of Defence, was the guest of honour at the inauguration for Holding Platoon.

He said that a career in the military is honourable and challenging, requiring a commitment to improve and excel in every aspect.

Touching on RBAF's 45`h Birthday this year, the guest of honour highlighted that it has seen many developments, including in weaponry and management of personnel through IT.

He also highlighted peace missions abroad, such as in Mindanao and Aceh, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid for tsunami victims last year. "

This, he added, proves that RBAF increasingly has capabilities to provide its services for upholding or preserving the peace and prosperity of the nation as well as in the region.

The 132nd intake will start their six-month basic military training from October 29 at the Penanjong Garrison Training Institute in Tutong.

During yesterday's ceremony, the recruits and their parents were also given a briefing by Capt Kambrin Hj Damit, Commanding Officer of the Recruit Company, which was later followed by a question-and-answer session.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
