Impersonator Remanded
By Malai FadleyRizal and Rol Ezam

Bandar Seri Begawan - A local man was yesterday remanded for two weeks for allegedly impersonating a public servant and carrying out several acts while assuming the character.

Abd Rahman bin Hj Lamat, 42, will again be produced before the courts on November 11 as investigations are currently underway.

The defendant is facing a first charge of impersonating a police officer. On October 18, 2006, he is alleged to have searched the house of a 39 year-old woman.

The second charge alleges that the defendant had pretended to be a Religious Affairs Department official, during which time he met with a man and later informed him that he had violated the religious law. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
