Raya Spirit In Temburong

Temburong - The act of visiting relatives near and far during Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a common tradition in Brunei Darussalam.

This gives celebrants a chance to strengthen ties and bonds, while at the same time allows them to seek forgiveness for any wrongdoings in the past.

As in past years, this festivity sees the Temburong District spring to life as people from the districts of Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Belait make their way there at the invitation of friends and families.

This annual event is guaranteed to leave the Kuala Lurah Immigration Post abuzz with activities, particularly on the first day of Hari Raya.

According to Haji Zolkarini bin Hj Abd Hamid and Hjh Asnah Basiah from Brunei-Muara District, they make a trip to Temburong once a year to visit distant relatives and siblings for the festivities.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
