Four Teenagers Fined For Stealing Mobile Phones

Bandar Seri Begawan - Four youngsters charged with theft were fined $2,000 or four months in jail in default after admitting to the misdemeanor in the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Three of the defendants, aged 19, and the fourth, who is 17 years old, pleaded guilty td stealing 18 mobile phones, four recharge cards worth 10 each and some cash amounting to $165 after successfully breaking into Fon Fix Company

in Delima Square, Kg Serusop at about 2am on March 17, this year.

According to DPP Zelda Skinner, the youths managed to get into the shop by breaking open the grilled back door using a screwdriver. An employee found out about the Incident later in the morning.

The matter came to the police's attention but before the authorities sought to find out who the thieves were, the defendants surrendered themselves at the Berakas police Station on March 23.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
