China To Showcase Trade With ASEAN

Begawan - With less than a week to go, Nanning City, Guangxi,
China is gearing up for the upcoming 31 China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO),
which will take place from Oct 31 to Nov 3.
Vice-Minister of Commerce (China) Gao
Hucheng said in a pre-expo meeting that the annual expo provided a
unique outlook reflecting on the achievements of China's opening up to
the world, especially in cooperative relations with 10 ASEAN -
(Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member countries.
"CAEXPO, encouraged by its impressive
effect on trade and investment development, is seeking to promote the
construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA)," Gao said.
With' the establishment of strategic
partnership, the two sides have made substantial progress in a variety
of fields.
The total transaction trade volume of
2"d CAEXPO hit USD$1.15 billion, an increase of USD$66 million
compared to the inaugural CAEXPO in 2004.
The 3rd CAEXPO will focus on four
pavilions, namely Investment Corporation, Com
modity
Trade, Agricultural Advanced & Applicable Technology and Cities of
Charm.
Under the Investment Corporation, the
pavilion will focus on international project contracting, human
resource cooperation, overseas processing trade, resource developing,
agricultural cooperation and other related financial services.
This section will present investment
in viting projects of urban development-and various economic and
technological development zones in China and ASEAN countries, by
briefing on policies and environment of investment, releasing project
information and holding business talks.
The visitors or purchasers will have
a closer look at more than 100 products or commodities, such as
Electronics & Electrical Appliances, Building Materials & Household
Ware, Agricultural Materials, Agricultural Produce & Foodstuffs, Oil &
Chemical Products, Palm Oil and Its Products.
Handicrafts from the ASEAN countries
can also be found at the Commodity Trade pavilion.
In the `Agricultural Advanced &
Applicable Technology' section,.purchasers will get the latest
information and the progress of the plantation & animal husbandry
technologies, biotechnologies, and the effort made in the
energy-saving & green technologies as well as new materials and new
sources of energy.
China and the 10 ASEAN countries will
select respectively one city that represents the unique culture
flavour of their respective country as Cities of Charm to be promoted
at the CAEXPO.
While, Shanghai, the host city of the
2010 World Expo, has been confirmed as the City of Charm of China for
the 3rd CAEXPO, Bandar Seri Begawan of Brunei Darussalam will unveil
the blue side (sunken pottery and marine tourism) at the upcoming
