Well-Wishers Continue To Throng

Begawan - A heavy downpour failed to dampen the spirits of some
43,843 well-wishers yesterday as they waited in line to exchange Hari
Raya greetings with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Saleha and Her
Royal Highness Pg Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar binti Hakim Mazhar on the
second day of a three-day open house at Istana Nurul Iman.

Also present were His Royal Highness
Prince Hj AIMuhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince and HRH Pg Anak
Isteri PgAnak Sarah, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and HRH Pg Anak
Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Zariah, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah and YAM Pg
Bini Hjh Faizah, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abdul
Mateen.
Also in attendance were HRH
Princess Hjh Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Majeedah
Nuurul Bulqiah, HRH Princess Hafizah Sururul Bulqiah, HRH Princess
HjhAmal Umi-Kalthum Al-Islam, HRH Princess Hjh Noor Ehsani and
granddaughters of His Majesty.
Among those present to exchange
greetings with His Majesty were government officials and
personnel, uniformed personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force,
Fire and Rescue Department, and Department of Immigration and
National Registration.
A 50-member delegation from Royal
Brunei Airlines, led by its’ vice executive president of
operations Haji Hassan Tengah, also attended the royal open house.
There were also foreigners in the
crowd, including a group of Thai students currently pursuing their
studies at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. |

Dayang Najihah Haji Yusof from
southern Thailand told the Bulletin she was very impressed with
the country as well as the hospitality of the people. |
Two journalists from the United
Kingdom, Jonathan Hart from a travel magazine and John Carter from The
Mail on Sunday, were also part of the thousands of wellwishers
yesterday.
Both Hart and Carter, who are
currently in the country on a three-day visit, said they couldn't
believe the scale of the royal open house. --
