Bruneians Celebrating Raya In UK

Bandar Seri Begawan - Bruneian students studying in UK will be joining their Muslim counterparts in Brunei and across the globe to usher in another Hari Raya festive season this year.

The livelier mood of Hari Raya is still felt although being separated by thousands of miles from parents, relatives and friends.

According to one of the students at University of Sheffield, Noramalia Hj Yahya (seated 2nd in Row 2 clockwise in pie), the occasion is celebrated modestly with preparations kept to a minimum as they prepare to gather in groups during the first day of celebration.

She said 40 students are attached to the University of Sheffield and two others studying at Hallam University of Sheffield. All ofthem are taking courses in Accounting and Finance, Mechanical Engineering, Hospitality and Management, Dental Public Health and Instrumental Engineering and Control.

She together with 21 others are taking BA in Accounting and Finance in a twinning programme inked between UBD- and University of Sheffield. She said anew batch of 18 has just joined them this year and out of the total of 22, 14 will finish their twoyear programme next year. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
