Early Raya Pays Means New Tyres,
Shiny Cars
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Business has been very busy at workshops and carwash
centres around the country since Saturday as civil servants received
their early pay to celebrate Hari Raya.
Celebrants who intend to go criss-crossing
around the Sultanate to visit relatives and friends ensured their
vehicles were in tip-top condition by having their cars washed and
serviced.
Car workshop operators said new tyres
were on the top of the shopping list of civil servants. "Some
purchased new tyres while others bought quality second-hand tyres,"
said a local workshop manager.
Apart from buying tyres, celebrants
also purchased stereo systems and other items for their vehicles. "We
earned roughly $5,000 a day. This is twice or three times more our
normal daily earnings," said a smiling manager. -- Courtesy of Borneo
