Brunei Looks For Own Halal

Begawan - Brunei is planning to have its own standards for
Halal foods, dispelling confusion and doubts about foodstuff Muslims
here can consume.

Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Ahmad bin Hj Jumat, the Minister of
Industry and Primary Resources announced that there were plans in the
pipeline to establish a committee involving the private sector.
He urged local entrepreneurs to work
together with the MIPR on the Brunei Halal Premium Brand to make it a
successful project that would help elevate Brunei Darussalam to be
among the big players of the Halal brand.
This observation was made by the
Pehin Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Awg Ahmad during a briefing on the
business potential and opportunities in developing the Brunei Premium
Halal Brand, yesterday at the Setia Pahlawan Hall, Ministry of
Industry and Primary Resources Building.
The project of developing a Brunei
Premium Halal Brand is among the initiatives by the Ministry of
Industry and Primary Resources with the cooperation of the Brunei
Islamic Religious Council, Ministry of Religious Affairs and the
Ministry of Health. This project will give the nation the Halal
recognition service for domestic and exported products that have a
