RTB2 Gets New Logo In Branding
Effort
By Za'im Zaini
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Local TV viewers will see a new logo for RTB2 as part
of a new branding scheme for the channel.
"The time of transmission for RTB2
during Hari Raya will be from 5pm to midnight unlike its usual time
from 6.45 pin to 1lpm," said Awg Hj Osman bin Hj Mohammad, the Acting
Deputy Director of RTB, and Acting Assistant Director (Television) Pg
Hj Mahari bin Pg Hj Rajak in an interview with the Bulletin.
"This extension of time period of
RTB2 is special for Hari Raya and will go on up to the 7th day of Hari
Raya."
Speaking on the programmes that will
be aired during Hari Raya, they revealed that "in choosing programmes,
care and sensitivity is vital for attracting the audience". The one
factor placed on the selection of programmes is to provide viewers
with choices so as to attract them, they added.
The move was in line with the primary
objective of "providing them with an option during prime time," they
said. "Since RTB2 is targeted for families, the selection will be
50/50 for local and international programmes to be filled in by RTB2."
They added that they plan to air good
programmes for Hari Raya, arranging programmes such as the latest
blockbuster movies based on the top ten US movies, animated features
for children and drama sitcoms suitable for Hari Raya, to name a few.
RTB2 is actually part of the plan for
a future wave of digital broadcasting of RTB TV programmes, in line
with developments in which people are increasingly making use of
digital technology. At the moment the status of RTB2 is "trial
transmission".
Awg
Hj Osman and Pg Hj Mahari said they hope to fully launch RTB2, by
which time they would have the guidelines for which programmes will go
to RTB1 and RTB2. They also mentioned that RTB plans to increase
transmission time in the future.
"This is a moving target," they said.
"But we hope to achieve this target by July 15, next year." Speaking
on the infrastructure of digital transmission, they said "We expect it
to be operational by the middle of 2008." -- Courtesy of Borneo
