Boy Found Safe After Fire In Kg Rimba
By Hj MinorAbsah

Bandar Seri Begawan - A boy who went missing at a scene of a fire which ravaged most of a two story house, was found alive and with no injuries yesterday.

After believing him to be trapped in the burning; building, distraught family members and firemen including the search and rescue team combed the site for the child.

However about 45 minutes later, the tragedy that was thought to have happened turned to joy as the ‘missing' boy was seen coming out of the crowds that gathered around the fiery scene.

It was indeed a roller coaster of emotions yesterday when fire first broke out on the double storey house in Kg Rimba at about 1.20pm.

With only a few days before the Hari Raya festivities, the house belonging to Hj Serudin bin Salim and his wife Hjh Masnah bte Hj Hamid suffered major damages on the top floor as fire ravaged most of it.

Hjh Masnah, told the Weekend that she was alerted about the fire by her 7year-old grandson.

She at first had not believed what her grandson had told her but when he insisted she had rushed upstairs and encountered the fire.

In the panic of seeing fire engulf the house everyone had quickly run out. In the commotion to escape, Hjh Masnah's grandsons had been noticed missing.

The Fire and Rescue Services were called and personnel from Berakas were quickly dispatched. The fire was put out in about 10 minutes and at the same time a search was conducted for the missing boy who was believed to be trapped in the house.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
