'Challenge' Cancelled

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Bukit Patoi Challenge 2006 - which was scheduled to take place on Nov 12 - has been cancelled.

According to Assistant Temburong District Officer cum chairperson of the event Metussin bin Haji Tuba, the cancellation is due to unforeseen circumstances.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, he said, "Please accept our apology for the cancellation.

"We are trying our best to organise the challenge next year instead."

The Bukit Patoi Challenge 2006 was postponed a few times before finally being cancelled.

The objective of the challenge is to promote the district as a tourist attraction/destination for both locals and foreigners.

It is also to promote awareness on the biodiversity of flora and fauna in Bukit Patoi, draw public attention to the park's priceless natural heritage and remind people on the importance of preserving the area for the sake of future generations.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
