By Sonia K.

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Education and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) will jointly organise the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) Prizes and Prudence Awards presentation ceremony tomorrow at the multi-purpose hall, UBD Staff-Students Centre, from 1pm.

The annual competition promoting achievement in Mathematics is now entered by students from 40 countries, including Asean. More than 3000 students from 38 secondary schools and colleges in Brunei Darussalam participated this year.

Seven students will be awarded AMC Prizes given to less than 0.3 per cent of all entrants. Twenty seven students will receive Prudence Awards in recognition of their accurate responses to competition questions.

One student from Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait will receive the AMC Medal for exceptional achievement. An AMC Medal is awarded to no more than one student per ten thousand entries. This is the sixth AMC medal won by a Bruneian student.

A Special Trophy sponsored by the Australian High Commission will also be presented to an outstanding student in the Junior category. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
