Festival Of Lights With HSBC
By Huraizah Ahmad

Bandar Seri Begawan - HSBC recently hosted a Deepavali reception for over 200 of its Indian customers and their families at the Cesar Grand Hall of Orchid Garden Hotel, Berakas.

Present as the guest of honour was Charge D'affaires of Indian High Commission in Brunei Mr MP Singh.

Upon his arrival, Mr Singh was welcomed by HSBC deputy chief executive officerAwang Rosdi Aming Yaakub.

The guest of honour then lit candles around the Kolam, which symbolises Deepavali, the Festival of Lights.

Later, Awang Rosdi, in this speech, said, "The symbolism of the light of knowledge overcoming the darkness of ignorance encourages us to learn from one another and reminds us that our differences should be celebrated."

He added, "As the consequences of the diversity of our customers, we often deal with people who see things from different perspectives and viewpoints.

"This, in turns, motivates us to try our best to understand our customers, right down to their cultural and spiritual beliefs, so we can provide them with specific financial needs."

Meanwhile, the reception also saw singing performances by members of the Indian community in the country, interactive games and a lucky draw. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
