Brunei's Haj Quota Not Affected By Foreign Workforce
By Azlan Othman

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei's Haj quota is not affected by foreign workers who want to perform their haj from the Sultanate.

The Haj Affairs Department told the Bulletin that foreign worker, be it a teacher employs in the private sector or has a family ties with Bruneian, who performs haj through the travel agents in Brunei do not affect the Brunei's haj quota.

There are some 20 to 30 foreign workers who will be performing haj from Brunei. This is nothing new as cases like this have also been reported in London where Bruneians studying and residing there perform their haj via London and applying through the Saudi Arabia Embassy in London.

Haj season begins in early December this year. The number of pilgrims expected to perform the haj this year has increased significantly as compared to previous years. Nine travel agents have been authorised to handle the haj. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
