Digging Deep Into Pockets For Charitable Cause

Bandar Seri Begawan - SMARTER Brunei and the Dana Pengiran Muda-Al Muhtadee Billah Orphans Fund yesterday received donations raised by BSP, BLNQ BST, and BSM.

On hand to present the donations to SMARTER President Malai Abdullah Malai Haji Othman was BSM Managing Director Pg Hj Yasmin Pg Mohammad, who was acting on behalf of the four companies.

The $3,750 contribution was raised by personnel who participated in the biennial Shell People Survey 2006.

Additionally, SMARTER received a $4,250 donation, which was raised through an initiative allowing personnel to donate their BSP Safety Award to selected charity bodies.

Later in. the day, a donation was presented to the Dana Pengiran Muda AlMuhtadee Billah Orphans Fund. The ceremony was witnessed at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Main Office in Jln Kumbang Pasang.

On hand to present the $1,130 donation to Dana Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Orphans Fund CEO Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim bin Haji Daud was BLNG Operations Manager Hj Abd Rahman Sirat, who represented the four companies.

Meanwhile, Syarikat BR Oscar chipped in a $20,000 donation. Another contribution was received from the Technical Education Department at the Ministry of Education.

The $1,876.34 donation was raised during a walkathon held in conjunction with the recent 61st Asean Skill competition. The amount represented five per cent of the total collection raised during the event. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
