Kuala Belait -
The Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait emerged
champion in a landscape competition amongst mosques in Belait
district. The aim of the competition was to promote healthy
competition among mosques throughout the country, while beautifying
the mosque's landscape to attract worshippers.
The announcement was made during the
`Safari Ramadhan' or working visit by the Minister of Religious
Affairs, Pehin Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haj i Md Zain, to the Muhammad
Jamalul Alam Mosque and Paduka Seri Ugama Begawan Sultan Religious
School in Belait. Also present was Belait District Officer, Hj Mohamad
Hj Abd Rahman.
During the Safari Ramadhan yesterday
morning, the minister presented prizes and certificates to winners and
participants of the competition, comprising representatives from Pekan
Seria Mosque, Perpindahan Kampong Pandan Mosque, Zainab Kampong Lumut
Mosque and Kampong Sungai Liang Mosque. The minister also hung the
winning certificate at the mosque's premise.
Judging for the competition took
place in June and was based on creativity, safety, cleanliness,
tidiness, condition of plants and greens, as well as commitment and
initiatives by mosque officials and worshippers in the management and
protection of the mosque area.
The ceremony continued with a
briefing on saving electricity in mosques and prayer houses throughout
the country, under an initiative by the Mosque Affairs Department to
save power.
Later, the Religious Affairs Minister
continued the working visit to the religious school for a briefing by
Section Head of the Islamic Teaching Department, who spoke on courses
and workshops to boost competency among male teachers in becoming
religious ceremony leaders within the community. -- Courtesy of Borneo
