Talk On Radio Frequency
Identification
By Huraizah Ahmad
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The CEO and Founder of American RFID solutions, Mr
Harold Clampitt, recently delivered a talk on Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) that was attended by some 20 individuals from
IET and other organisations in the engineering industry.
The talk was part of a series of
programmes organised by IET (Institution of Engineering and
Technology) Brunei. Mr Harold Clampitt gave an exciting talk featuring
three short video clips on how can RFID help in an organisation as
well as the implementations of RFID in USA including Wal-Mart and the
Department of Defence.
A demonstration was also run at the
end of the talk by Mr Kamal from Malaysia RFID Technology Centre,
Penang, Malaysia. Participants later held a discussion on the ideas
and benefits of RFID.
According to Mr Clampitt, it is
important to recognise that RFID encompasses a new way of doing
business. "It is not just about replacing bar codes with tags when
feasible," he said, adding that "competitive power shifts derived from
RFID are underway".
Mr
Clampitt has been a distinguished speaker at international events in
Beijing, Cannes, Hong Kong, London, Munich, Oxford, Singapore and
Sydney.
He has earned professional
recognition with the publication of his articles in trade magazines
such as RFID journal, and the IEE.
He has been honoured as the Cofounder
and Vice-Chairman of the RFID China Training Institute, Beijing. He is
also involved in the setting up of the Malaysia RFID Technology Center
in Penang, Malaysia. His success can be attributed to a combination of
technical knowledge and international business skills in which he has
used this valuable insight to build a team spanning 14 languages and
operating in all major time zones.
IET
Brunei, previously known as IEE Brunei Branch will also be organising
more technical talks and visits in the future. The IET Annual General
Meeting will be held on November 12, 2006 at The Empire Hotel and
Country Club.
