Bandar Seri
Begawan - Minister of Culture Youth and Sports Pehin Major
General (Rtd) Dato Hj Awg Mohammad bin Hj Daud received yesterday 28
participants in the Ship of South East Asean Youth Programme.
Also present were Permanent Secretary
of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Awg Hj Jemat
Bin Hj Ampal, Acting Director of Youth and Sports Pg Sabri bin Pg Hj
Mohammad as well as senior staff.
The minister said the honour to be
selected to represent Brunei Darussalam on such programme comes with
great responsibilities, like developing excellent bonds between the
participating nations through youth interactions.
He reminded the participants to take
full advantage of their experience to carry out youth oriented
projects in the nation in the future.
The Brunei contingent including the
national leader, youth leader, assistant youth leader and entourage
will leave for Singapore on October 30 for Singapore for a 44day
programme.
Activities are organised on the ship
for all participating nations. This is the 21st time that Brunei
joined in the event since 1974. Brunei, an observing nation in 1984
when it sent seven participants, became a full pledged member in 1985.
The participants of the 2006
programme were selected in June 2006. The orientation was in July.
From Singapore, the ship will go to
Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Philippines and Japan as a
final destination, and will end on December 12, 2006. -- Courtesy of Borneo
