MoE Helps Employees Hit By Fire

Bandar Seri Begawan - Victims of a recent fire got a reprieve when the Ministry of Education presented to them yesterday donations at the SUT lounge, Level 4, Block A Ministry of Education Building.

Dato Paduka Haji Sheikh Adnan bin Sheikh Mohamad, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, presented a $1000 check each to Dyg Maswati Binti Haji Mohd Yassin and Dyg No or Azibah binti Haji Mohd Yassin, representing the fire victims' families.

Dyg Maswati, operator and receptionist at the Ministry of Education, said her family of six and a maid are staying with her in-laws. She said they planned to buy their children new school uniforms after their clothes were burned.

Dyg Noor Azibah, accounts clerk in the education ministry, said she and her children are staying in her parent's house.

She said she is concerned with her teen children who are studying for their public exams. Her youngest child is eight years old. Both expressed their thanks to the Ministry of Education for its care and concern for them. The ministry has also provided places in other government housing areas for its personnel and their families affected by the fire. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
