Donations Presented At HSBC's
Charity Sungkai

Begawan - HSBC Bank, through its Islamic Welfare Body,
yesterday organised sungkai with residents of Pulaie Welfare Complex
at the centre's multipurpose hall.
Present as guest of honour was Datin
Hajah Adina bte Othman, Director of Community Development at the
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Also in attendance were the
HSBC CEO Mr Guy Priestly, and HSBC Deputy CEO Awg Rosdi Amin Yaakub,
HSBC senior managers and staff as well as officials and staff from the
Pulaie Welfare Complex.
The event was organised by the HSBC
Islamic Welfare Body, headed by its Chairman Hj Sabirin Othman. The
evening began with the recital of Khatam al-Quran by the residents of
the complex who have completed reciting the 30 verses of the al-Quran.
It stafted with the recital of Surah-Surah and the reading of the
Tahktim followed by Doa Khatam and Dzikir Marhaban and Menabur Bunga
Rampai.
After a mass Maghrib prayer, HSBC CEO
Mr Guy Priestly, presented donations to 50 residents. Mr Priestly said
the donation was part of the bank's on-going support to the residents
of the complex. It was not the first time the HSBC had organised
activities for the residents, he added. He saidHSBC employees have
been actively involved in organising activities for them, both
educational and sports.
He said an excellent example is a
sports coaching programme where the bank employees take time to coach
the residents in gamed such as football and netball.
"Naturally we would not want to miss
the opportunity to celebrate this holy month with the residents, and
true to the meaning of Ramadhan (giving to others), we hope our
donation today will help the residents to better celebrate the
