Mawi Cake Popular Choice For Raya

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Mawi Cake is- the most popular cake sold at the Raya Expo 2006 held at Atrium Hall, The Mall in Gadong. Other popular choices were Chocolate Roll Cake, Rainbow Layer Cake and Akademi Fantasia Cake.

A local entrepreneur taking part in the expo, Hjh Julia, said the response this year from the public has been very encouraging. She said her order for biscuits and cakes has doubled, adding that orders for biscuits have topped 1,000 boxes and she had to employ five extra staff to cope with the demand.

"This is a great opportunity for young locals to earn extra income for the festive celebration. Salary paid is normally double and we hope that more locals will come forward to look for work," Hjh Julia added.

The two-week Raya Expo, organised by a local firm, is participated by over forty local entrepreneurs and offers a variety of Hari Raya necessities. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
