Students Honoured For Memorising Al-Quran

Bandar Seri Begawan - Another 37 male and female students of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah have fully memorised the Holy Book, bringing the number of students who have accomplished this feat to 79.

The guest of honour, Dato Paduka Hj Ishaaq bin Hj Abdullah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, presented certificates and souvenirs to the 37 students yesterday.

After the guest of honour sprinkled flowers over the graduating students, parents and other relatives took turns to sprinkle the flowers over their loved ones.

Various religious activities were performed at the ceremony including `Takhtim' readings, `Marhaban' as well as the recital of 'al-Fatihah' and 'Khatam al-Quran'.

The formation of the institute was consented by His Majesty in conjunction with His Majesty's 46th birthday in 1992. It was formally formed in 1993 when it accepted the first 44 male students. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
