Kg Mumong Orphans Receive Contributions

Bandar Seri Begawan - Apart from fasting, the act of contribution to the less fortunate is also being carried out by many during the holy month of Ramadhan.

With commitment and handwork, Kampong Mumong Consultative Council had recently raised a total of $9,504 by the residents of Mumong and surrounding areas. This year their contributions doubled from $30 last year to $60.

The presentation ceremony was held Sunday evening at the residence of Kampong Mumong Village Head Awg Hj Yusof bin Dulamin, where 80 orphans received the donations as well as food hampers.

On hand to present the donation was the Belait District Office Administration Officer Hj Ibrahim bin Hj Jumat.

Also in attendance were the orphans' guardians and village residents.

The donation is an annual activity carried out for the sixth time this year to bring joy and ease the burden of the children for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations, said Awg Hj Yusof in his welcoming speech.

He also highlighted the drastic increase of donation from $5,000 last year to over $9,000 this year, which reflects the generosity of the residents and members of the public in contributing to the needy children.

The presentation of donations was followed by a doa Arwah as well as a tahlil and doa recital. The event concluded with the breaking of fast. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
