Donations For 87 Orphans In Temburong

Bangar - Eighty-seven orphans in Temburong received donations in a ceremony that took place yesterday at Komplek Dewan Kemesyarakatan Daerah Temburong' Dewan Belalong.

The event's guest of honour was Acting District Officer Hj Mohd Abdoh Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Salam.

Each recipient was presented with $100 from the Temburong District Donation for Orphans Fund, $50 from the Tabung Kebangsaan Anak Yatim, $50 from Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and $130.61 from private donator Hj Taib Osman, as well as vouchers from Hua Ho.

The function also saw donations to victims of a recent house fire from the Islamic Religious Council in Temburong.

The Orphanage Fund meanwhile also received contributions of $7,490, including $1,490 from BSP handed over by Hj Jaini Hj Omar, its Public External Affairs Advisor.

In his speech, Matusin OKS Hj Tubu, the Assistant Temburong District Officer, stated that the donation is an annual project for committee members of the Temburong District Donation for Orphans Fund, usually held during Ramadhan.

He hoped that the contributions would help recipients with their modest preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration as well as other needs, like education for example. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
