thefts with six cases recorded since early this year, police revealed

The Brunei Police District advised
the public not to be lured by anyone wanting to borrow mobile
phones after meeting through a popular online chat which has
become a hit among youths here. The advice comes as a woman
managed to steal six mobile phones from six men she met through an
online_ chat.
"She met the victims (men), got
acquainted and borrowed the phone from them before she
disappeared. The victims reported the matter to the police upon
which we carried-out further investigation. Such activity has been
especially rampant since June," OCPD of Brunei Police District,
Acting Sr Supt Pg. Hj Rakit B. Pg. Hj Osman, said.
Also present were ASP Pg. Abd
Salam Pg. Hj Abd Ghani and Acting ASP Hj Mohd Khairul Amilin Hj
Idris, District Crime Investigation Officers of Brunei Police
District.

and to always lock their houses.
Installing an alarm system is
advantageous while cash and valuables should be kept in safer places
like a safety deposit or entrusted to someone close and to park cars'
in a visible area.
The public should be alert for noises
especially after midnight and to note suspicious cars parked or
cruising about by noting the licence plate.
