Heads Of Religious Schools Hold Khatam Al-Quran

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 42 individuals, comprising of 38 female and four male principals and heads of religious teachers for the Leadership Committee of Religious Schools in Brunei III, participated in a Khatam alQuran yesterday at the PAP Mutawakillah Hayatul Bolkiah Serusop Religious School.

Guest of honour at the ceremony was Ustazah Siti Mariam bte Daud, Head of al-Quran Section, Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the 'Surah Al-Fatihah' led by the guest of honour, followed by the recitation of `surah' from the al-Quran, a `Takhtim'recitation, a `doakhatam' and 'Dzikir'.

Towards the end of the ceremony, a "Merinjis Minyak, Wangi' or sprinkling of scented water event was held followed by a presentation of certificates to participants by the guest of honour, who also received a souvenir of appreciation. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
