New Hearse For Kg Sungai Besar

Bandar Seri Begawan - The mosque of Sungai Besar has acquired a new hearse. It was presented to the mosque committee of Kampong Sungai- Besar Saturday night in a simultaneous ceremony with the Khatam al-Quran.

The presentation was witnessed by guest of honour Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Ustaz Hj Badarrudin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.

Presenting a mock key to the mosque' committee was the son of the late Hj Nawi -Awg Hj Jasmin bin Hj Nawi. The new hearse, a Nissan Urvan model, is a gift from a deceased resident of the village.

Also presented along with the hearse were grave stones for men and women, burial equipment, a coffin and a garage built in the mosque compound. The 'tepung tawar' ceremony for the new hearse was done by the guest pf honour. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
