Contest Unearths Top Essay Writers

Bandar Seri Begawan - A prize presentation ceremony was yesterday held at the Civil Service Institute to award the winners of an essay writing competition.

Present as guest of honour was Minister of Health Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, who later presented the prizes to the winning bunch.

The competition is an annual event organised by the Civil Service Institute. The chosen essays will be entered in the Civil Service Institute Journal, which is published - twice yearly to serve as guidelines and exemplar materials for government departments and non-government organisations.

The first prize was awarded to Hajah Siti Mariam binti Awg Haji Md Jaafar for her piece on `Occupational Safety and Health Standard in High Risk Occupational Workplace - How Far It Is Understood at the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, Ali Termizi bin Haji Ramlli emerged in second place with his piece on 'Perkhidmatan Awam ke Arah Pencapaian Yang Lebih Berkesan.

Haime bin Jikilani won third place for his essay on `Strategic Management’.

In his speech, the minister of health stressed the importance and effectiveness of composition writing as a channel of communication to strengthen relations between the government and the agencies under it, as well as the general public. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
