ITB Holds Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony
For Final Year Students

Begawan - Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) held a 'Khatam al-Quran'
ceremony yesterday for its 20"' intake students who will be completing
their studies, this December and graduating in May next year, at the
Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) mosque.
Some 57 students held a group
recitation as they completed the 30 verses from the Al-Quran as a
prerequisite for the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony.
Present as guest of honour at the
ceremony was Cikgu Awg Hj Sarbini bin Hj Tahir, Acting Registrar of
ITB. Prior to the group recitation, a mass Asar prayer was held
followed by the recitation of the SurahAl-Fatihah.
As soon as the students completed the
Al-Quran recitation, a 'Takhlim' was recited by the 22nd intake of ITB
students followed by a recitation of the 'Doa Khatam' by Awg Md
Rafiuddin bin Hj Sabtu, Head of ITB Student Council, and a 'Dikir
Marhaban'.
The Khatam A1-Quran participants were
then presented with certificates by the guest of honour, who was in
turn presented with a souvenir.
Towards the end of the ceremony
another recitation was read by the Imam of UBD mosque, followed by a `Doa
selamat' which preceded the break of fast.
According to Awg Md Rafiuddin, it is
important to continue holding annual religious functions such as the
Khatam al-Quran, which is one of the main religious functions
organised by ITB.
He also added that the event also
reminded them that their time at ITB is almost up, as the Khatam Al-Quran
