Khatam Al-Quran For Religious Teachers

Bandar Seri Begawan - Over three hundred religious teachers from 23 government religious schools and secondary schools in the Belait district marked the completion of Quran reading (khatam al-Quran) yesterday.

The ceremony took place at Sekolah Ugdma Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Saadatul Bolkiah religious school in Seria, and was organised for the second time by the Belait Islamic Religious Department, in conjunction with the Ramadhan month.

The guest of honour at the gathering was the district's Chief Religious Officer Pengiran Hj Yunus bin fig Hj Mohd Salleh.

The ceremony started with the reading of the "ummul kitab" (fatiha) led by the chief guest, followed by the reading of the closing chapters of the Quran by the participating teachers.

There were also reading of the tahlil, arwah prayer and dzikir by the male teachers. The ceremony ended with the "sungkai" (breaking of the fast) and a mass Maghrib prayer led by Ustaz Hj Abd Razak bin Hj Ismail.
