Principle
By Rosli Absdin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) yesterday
held a khatam al-Quran (Quran reading completion) as well as tahlil
cum-arwah prayer ceremonies at its Balai Sarmayuda in Berakas in
conjunction with the month of Ramadhan.
The DBP Director, Dr Mataim Bakar,
said the ceremonies were meaningful not only in religious terms but
also in strengthen relationships between members of the staff.
He urged DBP personnel to read the
Quran in Ramadhan while pondering the meaning of each verse and make
it their daily guide and principle in life.
"Ramadhan has been called the month
of the Quran since it was during this month that Allah began revealing
the holy book to the Prophet Muhammad (saw). Let us take advantage of
Ramadhan and read the whole of the Quran to improve our understanding
of its teachings and to correct our mistakes.
"Make the Quran as our spiritual
guide in this world," he said. At the gathering, Dr Mataim also handed
over donations to orphans. There was also a recitation of the tahlil
and arwah prayer for former DBP staff of DBP who had passed on.
