Filipino Woman Jailed Or Altering Passport
By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 35-year-old Filipino woman was sent to jail for four months after she pleaded guilty to nine counts of possession of forged endorsements in her passport.

Prosecuting Officer Shamshuddin Hj Kamaluddin told the court yesterday that Immigration Enforcement Personnel were conducting an inspection at Manggis Centre on October 3, where they found the defendant sitting beside a payment counter. She produced a photocopy of her passport when inquired. Personnel found some of the copies printed with suspicious endorsements. She was escorted to look for her original passport, which was found to be endorsed with nine forged passes.

The passes included permit to leave, social visit, departure, employment and entry visa stamps.

The defendant claimed that she had a friend harked Edna who offered to do forge the endorsements. The defendant paid her some money for the forged endorsements.

The defendant previously worked as an amah but since her employment pass was cancelled, she continued to work in the country without proper authorisation.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
