By Rol Ezam

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 47-year-old local and two Indonesians aged 32, and 25, were fined $1,000 each or one month’s imprisonment in default by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after they pleaded guilty to entering a safety zone without authorisation for fishing.

Hj Yakop bin Hj Ongsang admitted to entering CPWJ 20 at the vicinity of Champion Oilfieid without authorisation on June 1, last year while the two foreigners, Kusnadi bin Kartim and Ade Sutrisno Nardam, pleaded guilty to entering CPDP14 on June 12, 2005, contravening Regulation 4 of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Zones) Order 1988.

The defendants were arrested by a team of officers from the Fisheries Department and the Marine Police who were patrolling the vicinity. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
