By Hj Minor Absah

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 19-year-old student miraculously survived a three-storey fall at Mahad Islam in Tutong Sunday.

Mohd Zairul Anuar, a Form Five student, was preparing for his religious SPU examination. He has been staying at the hostel, which is under renovation since 2004, for the past five years. He is currently being treated at the ICU ward at the RIPAS Hospital.

He spoke to the Bulletin about the freak accident and said that he landed on the concrete floor after he skidded and lost his balance while sitting on the window ledge of a building that is undergoing renovation.

The hospital staff said the victim suffered fractures to his limb, arm and injuries to his face but is in a stable condition,

The incident happened at around 8pm last Sunday at the temporary accommodation, which has been transformed into a student's accommodation at the college.

The students were housed at a school hostel in the capital for eight months when repairs were in progress at the college hostel.

According to his father, Hj Mohd Idris bin Hj Abd Hamid Khan who was informed by his son's friends about the incident at around 10pm on Sunday, due to the congestion at the school hostel in the capital, the students were shifted back to the temporary accommodation at Mahad Islam in Tutong.

An official from the college said a police report has been lodged, however, the police PRO when contacted yesterday said they haven't received any report yet.

It is learnt that 20 students are staying in four rooms at the building. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
