Vietnam flying boy survives
typhoon
Danang -
A 13-month-old boy in Vietnam survived devastating Typhoon Xangsane
after flying away in his cradle over a two-storey building, a local
doctor has said.
Little Le Ngoc Dong was sleeping in a
cradle hanging from a roof beam when he was taken away as the powerful
typhoon hit Danang city and several other central provinces on Sunday
morning.
"His father saw the cradle flying
away, above a two-storey school building nearby," said a doctor
Wednesday from Thanh Khe district hospital, refusing to be named.
The flying baby boy was found stuck
in waterplants in a pond, 150 meters from his home, the doctor said.
"It is a miracle. He suffered from
very small head injuries," she said.
According to state-run Thanh Nien
newspaper, Dong's family is now staying in the hospital as the house
was completely destroyed.
The death toll in the country rose on
Wednesday to 52 with another seven people missing, officials said. --
