Brunei Gobbles Up Indo-Food
Instant Noodles

Begawan - Brunei Darussalam has one of the highest consumption
per capita of Indofood Instant Noodle in the region.
This was stated by Mr Bambang
Soendoro, Indofood Head of Business Development, during his welcoming
remarks at the Indofood Scratch & Win 2006 Trade Display prize
presentation dinner. The event was held at Dynasty Restaurant Saturday
evening.
According to Mr Bambang Soendoro, "LEC-Hanafiah
Import & Export (main
importer of Indofood) and Syarikat
Aliaa Sdn Bbd (sole distributor of Indofood) achieved another
milestone by selling 250,000,000 packets of Indofood Instant Noodles
to the Brunei market since early 1988, which show a total consumption
per capita of 700 packetss per person."
Figures collected in 2005 show that
some 27 million packets of Indofood Instant Noodle were sold in Brunei
Darussalam, while the consumption per capita for 2005 was 75 packets
per person. This was a growth of 107.75 per cent from 1995.
In comparison, the consumption per
capita for Indonesia is 50 packets per person, Malaysia with 40
packets per person, Singapore with 21 packets per person and
Philippines with 15 packets per person. Brunei Darussalam still tops
the list for highest consumption per capita of Indofood Instant Noodle
in the region, he added.
Mr
Bambang Soendoro said the Indofood's Scratch and Win promotion was so
successful that the company sold an estimated seven million packets of
Indofood Instant Noodles during the period
The promotion, which started in July
and ended September, offered over 3,000 prizes including a 26 inch LCD
TV, 29-inch flat TV, DVD players and home theatre sets. -- Courtesy of Borneo
