Belait District Orphanage Fund Boosted To More Than B$55,000

Kuala Belait - More than B$42,000 was collected for the Belait District Orphanage Fund this year from 61 contributors including government departments, learning institutions, schools, private companies, mukim residents, associations and individuals in the district.

The contributors handed over their donations to the orphanage fund in a ceremony held at Dewan Santap yesterday morning. With the generous donation yesterday, the total Belait orphanage fluid was boosted to a current total of $55,775.89.

Assistant Belait District Officer, Awg Shalvninan bin Hj Tengah, in his speech said people in the country are awared of the needs of the less fortunate communities including orphans especially during the month of Ramadhan.

He said the Belait orphanage fund is receiving contributions from various parties every day throughout the -Fasting month. "Muslims are taking the opportunity to carry out their social duty towards the less fortunate people in the society during the blissful month," he said.

lie added that the Belait District Orphanage Fund committee will be holding a presentation ceremony to orphans in the district tomorrow whereby the cash contribution will be divided and distributed among the orphans.

The highest contribution received yesterday was from BSP, BLNG and BSM at $18,736, which was presented by BSP Deputy Managing Director, Awg Hj ZainatAbidin bin Hj Md Ali, to Belait District Officer, Awg Hj Mohammad bin Flj Abd Rahman.

Other contributors included PTAS Sdn Bhd which donated $1,000; SKS `Mood Sdn Bhd, $2,000; Syarikat Kilang Papan Forestry Sdn Bhd, $1,300; Sea View Resort Hotel and Apartments, $600; and Wong Wah Seng Trading, $500. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
