Halal Dim Sum Outlet Opens
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Muslims can break their fast with Chinese dim sum
dishes at Foodzone Restaurant in Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah
in the capital, which opened its doors for the first time yesterday.
Once regarded a purely and strictly
Chinese meal to start a lively day, halal dim sum are now available
for Muslims.
The restaurateur owner said he opened
a new food outlet specialising in dim sum even though there are
several restaurants here that serve it.
"Since dim sum is popular among the
non-Chinese, there are enough customers to sustain food establishments
specialising in dim sum delicacies," he said.
Dim sum, a traditional breakfast food
for the Chinese people, has undergone a transformation, he said.
In Brunei, diners order dim sum any
time of the day. Dim sum dishes here are also halal and are
transformed to suit the local taste buds. "Apart from the traditional
dim sum dishes, we have also created new ones," he said. -- Courtesy of Borneo
