MinDev Holds Religious Ceremonies

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 200 people from the Ministry of Development and the departments under it held a `Khatam al-Quran' and 'tahlil' ceremony at the Jubli Perak Mosque in Lambak Kiri, yesterday.

Present as guest of honour at the ceremony was the Minister of Development, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Abdullah. Also in attendance were Dato Paduka DrAwg Hj Mat Sunny bin Hj Mohd Hussien, the Deputy Minister of Development, Awg Hj Mohd Said bin Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Hashim, Permanent Secretary (Professional and Technical) at the Ministry andAwg Hj Brahim bin Hj Ismail, Permanent Secretary (Finance and Administration) at the Ministry.

The ceremony commenced with the recital of the 'Surah Al-Fatihah' followed by the reading of the Al-Quran starting from "Juz 1 until Juz 30". The `Khatam al-Quran' ceremony was followed straight after by the 'tahlil' ceremony.

The breaking of fast was held soon after, followed by mass Maghrib prayers.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
