RBAF Offers ‘Caring Touch’ In Time
For Raya Celebrations
By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Some 118 orphans of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces
received donations in the form of cash, Hari Raya hampers and cartons
of beverages to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri festival,
in a donation handing over ceremony called "Sentuhan Kasih Ramadhan
ABDB" or "RBAF's Caring Touch of Ramadhan", at the Berakas Garrison's
Surau.
On hand to present the donations as
guest of honour at the ceremony was the Commander of the Royal Brunei
Armed Forces, Pehin Dam Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj
Awg Halbi bin Hj Md Yussof. The guest of honour was accompanied by his
wife, Datin Hjh Kalshom bte Hj Suhaili.
According to Puspasari bte Abdul Rani,
the RBAF donations were seen as a heartfelt blessing.
With two children under her care
receiving the donation this year, Puspasari said, "The donations will
help ease my burden and I would make good use of the donations to
purchase necessary items for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration."
She also thanked the Royal Brunei
Armed Forces for the generous contributions
Yesterday's ceremony was one of the
annual welfare activities organised by RBAF for orphans of ex-RBAF
personnel to help relieve their burden as they celebrate the upcoming
Hari-Raya Aidil Fitri Festival.
The donated items and cash came from
several sources including the RBAF Welfare Fund, the RBAF Wives
Welfare Committee (BAKTI) Fund as well as some RBAF individuals.
Compassion for the orphans has been a
continuous commitment monitored annually by the RBAF. One of the prime
objectives of this commitment is to reminisce on the loyal duty and
good deeds of the departed parents throughout their service within
RBAF and also to promote awareness and attention of RBAF personnel for
the orphans. -- Courtesy of Borneo
