Donations Pour In For Family In Need

Bandar Seri Begawan - Donations came pouring in for a family living in a dilapidated home in Jerudong after the public read about their plight in the Bulletin yesterday.

Hjh Noriah Aji, a local woman, is the sole breadwinner in the family. She has to look after her elderly father, blind mother, two handicapped brothers as well as her own children.

The family's residence is located in, front of a house at No 94-544-109, Jalan Pulau Kubu near the Holiday Lodge Hotel in Jerudong.

The situation is very difficult for Hjh Noriah, as she has to divide her time trying to earn some money and taking care of her family. Money she does earn is barely enough for daily necessities, let alone to prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya festivities.

Hjh Noriah said that it was never her intention to get sympathy from the public from the publication of yesterday's story. But she was deeply moved by the generosity of the caring public for providing them with daily necessities as well as money.

She told the Bulletin that she feels sad for her family, especially her children, who have not had a proper Hari Raya celebration for the last three years. One of the people who contributed donations to the family yesterday was Pehin Dato Hj Abas Hj Ibrahim.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
