3 Thais Arrested For Operating illegal Mobile Business
By Liza Mohd

Bandar Seri Begawan - Three Thai nationals were arrested by the Belait Immigration officials on Monday evening for allegedly operating a mobile business in their vehicle.

The suspects were caught red-handed selling fresh meat, vegetables and other food items. Five Belait Immigration Enforcement officials were patrolling areas in Seria based on tip-offs from the public about foreigners operating mobile business.

The officials targeted workers quarters housing foreigners in Seria and discovered two vehicles plying mobile business. The suspects were arrested at two separate places at around 7pm.

They were later detained for further investigation on breaching Rule 15(2) under the Immigration Act. If convicted, they could each face a B$600 fine.

The Immigration Department wished to express its appreciation to members of the public for their continuous support in cooperating with the enforcement agency in protecting the peace, harmony and safety of the country.

Members of the public are advised to contact the department's hotline number at 3331879/3341938 or 2383555/2383777 to provide any information on immigration-related activities. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
