Local Man Jailed 1 Year For Theft

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 52-year-old local man who stole a pair of jeans containing a wallet will spend the next year in jail.

The Bandar Magistrate's Court imposed a one-year jail sentence on Awang Haris bin Hj Akil yesterday. The court was told that the wallet contained cash, an ATM card, a set of office keys and a Philippines passport.

According to DPP Hjh Farhanah PD Hi Suhaili, the defendant was driving around

Kg Anggerek Desa at about 6am on August 20 when he decided to enter an unlocked house. Awang Haris walked into a bedroom on the ground floor, where he found a man sleeping on a bed. As soon as he saw the pair of jeans at the foot of the bed, he snatched it and ran away, the court was told.
