Filipino Woman Jailed For Soliciting

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 25-year-old Filipino woman was sentenced to four months' imprisonment by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after she pleaded guilty to soliciting a male person for the purpose of prostitution.

Gina Tambilawan Dela Cruz was arrested two days ago by police personnel from the Vice Suppression Unit at a hotel room in the capital.

The court heard that the defendant was found half naked in the room with a man. A search on the defendant revealed cash amounting to $100 in her trouser pocket. She admitted that she had offered sexual intercourse with the man for $100.

According to the Prosecuting Officer yesterday, the defendant admitted to having solicited ‘clients' through her mobile phone by making arrangements to meet with them at pre-designated places. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
