Sea of shoppers in Serusop
By Achong Tanjong
The Delima Jaya Complex in Serusop
has been a sea of shoppers all this Ramadhan, looking for Hari Raya
bargains. The Nazmi Textile Mall located in the area is a good place
to shop, a one-stop centre for a wide range of textiles and garments
for the upcoming celebration.
Nazmi's
recent midnight sales - held from 10pm to 4am - has proven to be a
great success, attracting a large number of shoppers to the shop for
bargains. To show its appreciation, Nazmi gave away free "sahur"
vouchers to every customer who came.
Customers at the centre also stand to
win attractive prizes at a lucky draw conducted by the store.
Meanwhile, an officer from the
Economic Planning and Development Department reminded the public to
spend wisely and to check the prices of goods carefully before making
the purchase.
He made the suggestion at the launch
of the Brunei Grand Sale campaign recently.
A mother of four, Dyg Robiah from Kg.
Lambak, said her family normally spend moderately for the Hari Raya
celebration, as in pervious years. "We are only looking for new
clothes for my children," she said. "We would spend only on
necessities and buy only during sales when things are comparatively
cheaper."
Awg.
Ramli, from Kampung Serasa, said he preferred to shop early than at
the last minute to avoid the rush and heavy traffic. He would also
list down items he wants to buy so that he would not overspend.
As for Dayang Sadiah, her family
would celebrate Hari Raya on a moderate scale this year, unlike
previously, because they have many obligations to meet, like bank and
car loans.
