By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Acting Chairman of Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal
Board officially declared open the Hari Raya sale at the Bumiputera
Commercial and Trade Centre in Bandar yesterday afternoon.
The onestop location for Hari Raya
shoppers features 56 booths selling all the necessary items for the
upcoming festivities.
The sale began September 30 and will
be held till the last day of Ramadhan.
Organised
by the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board and facilitated by the
Coordinating Body of Entrepreneurs of Multi-Stories Car Park Building
and Bumiputera Commercial and Trade Centre Building, the special Hari
Raya Sale aims to provide opportunities' for local entrepreneurs to
exhibit their products, while making it convenient for shoppers to
purchase all their festivity needs at one place.
Products on sale include footwear,
clothes, textiles, handbags, curtains, plastic flowers and plants, and
electrical and electronic products at discounted prices.
Apart from home decoration items,
furniture and textiles, there are also booths selling various Hari
Raya cakes and biscuits.
This is the 19' time the annual Hari
Raya sale has been organised, and it is in line with the government's
desire to see an increase in local involvement in trade and industry.
The sale is a way of improving entrepreneurs' livelihood, though
growth has often been hampered by the lack of expertise and knowledge
in crucial areas like entrepreneurship, management, finance, marketing
and technology.
However, local entrepreneurs need to
increase their business knowledge to inject the much- needed
commercial skills of business planning, marketing as well as product
and brand development, which is vital towards successful operations of
small and medium enterprises. -- Courtesy of Borneo
